I would agree too.
Indeed very odd shape of mug for that time.
Also never seen a makers mark on the inside of a sugar pot lid and most of all the black edge under the gold!
At one point you would think it is there to give some depth to the crest, but then it would be used on one side (right) to make it appear like a shadow....But that black edge shows up on other sides as well and isn't very equal every where.......
So I would say it is not the finition one would expect for such a good porcelain maker.
cheers

Ade, they have been proven to be fake. Kris did/has an article on his site about them. I got caught out about 15 years ago. They never existed, despite what people may think

Hi John, thanks, never any doubt in my mind.
I have posted this thread in the hope it might make the dealer do the right thing.
Cheers, Ade.

Ade,
Here are some similar pieces I ran across while out hunting; these were considered fakes as well. Hope this helps.

Now THAT would be a novelty!

Thanks again everyone! I really hope there can be some redress for the owner. I know it was sold a long time ago, but along with the other items he bought from the same dealer, it all comes to a very substantial sum.
Cheers, Ade.
