In my opinion it is post war. It is not a very good likeness and appears to be finished poorly.
I agree with Steve, the likeness is terrible!
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Thank You so much for your quick response guys! Is the artist " O. Beck " even correct for this style of piece? That is not a name I am familiar with when dealing with these busts.
Beck is an actual known artist of the period...Aside from the crappy likeness, I see no reason this could not be real. The materials, if nothing else, look decent enough.

Looks like the head was mounted to an original period base as an afterthought.
This is not what I would expect from an artist. The name too, looks like it was
engraved into the piece after it was made and finished - which is a strange
kind of patination for a bronze sculpture - it looks like grey or black paint,
which, under the neck area, should show no wear at all.
In looking at it again, the ears are asymmetrical - they don't match !
Below is a bronze statue by 'Beck'. Note the artists name and how
the patination is a part of the piece, not added later.........!
