I've seen a similar style eagle in plaster, supposedly the correct material for the type. That one had its head facing the other way though, aesthetically that's a pleasing piece --- hope someone will be ale to help you out!

Based upon this design used in the Kroll Opera House. The real one is a touch bigger...

The Opera House was used after the Reichstag Fire.

The plaster ones about18-20 inches wide were sold by a company in St. Louis called WWII limited back in the 70's.
