Gentlemen,
Seems as though this thread did get everybody "wound" up... The purpose of this was for the members here to see something abnormal, input opinion, and for a possible picture, document, or film containing the key to "jog" someone's memory. My end goal is not for members to end up "battling" over the authenticity or purpose. However, the true intent was to gain clarity on the key. If I knew what it was and had the proof to it - I would of posted it...
I APPRECIATE all the constructive criticism and positive attitude. if you feel it is not a possible era key, cool; I have no problem with that! if you think it has a chance, again; cool - that's great.
I also did not post it for a "value." Who the heck knows!? If I or "we" can prove it to be something of TR - and know its "use", then of course someone somewhere will place a value to it. That's how it goes.
I posted to see if anyone had knowledge of it - seems as though this key stumps even the members here - I thought it would. Yes, I was HESISTANT of posting it here due to members getting very "hot" and this whole thread going down the dumper. I wanted to post for positive criticism and hoped members would not get in a battle over opinion. Truth is - everyone has a theory with no PROOF of any of them.... Including ME!
At any rate - I will have this key in hand, with my good camera in a couple weeks. it is said that there is an "inscription" on the shaft of the key - I WILL be taking A LOT of pictures of this and the key and repost for everyone to see.
Some may say - "why did you not do this in the first place????" Well - I wanted to see if anyone had upfront knowledge of this said key. That is why... Plus - I only have family members to take photos right now..
Once again - THANK YOU to everyone for commenting. I hope this thread has brought you some entertainment and new experiences in seeing it. My only goal is to hopefully provide some threads and comments that help this forum.
Respectfully - Duff

Nice, bigmacglenn1966... Certainly most know of the Sepp Dietrich insignia... A skeleton key..
Dietrich in German means "Skeleton Key" I believe..The better questions one should ask are;
Where was this item found, any provenance ? Details are the "Key" pardon the pun to de-bunk an item not known.... We all know the moon is made out of cheese !....Gwar
'Dietrich' means 'Picklock'.

I think we have had enough guess's on this, unless you have an answer supported by facts, please don't bother to post it.
And no more comedy posts either please.

This post is not of a comedic nature.

We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
