Not WWII for sure, but a bird probably cast from an original. As you said, the detail on the front is good, but an obvious copy. The back just confirms it 100%. No authentic Reichsbahn Eagle had a solid back like that. No matter, at $40 you got a steal anyway, even more so if it's metal, even double more so (??? great grammar!!!) if it's brass. Great find.

Agreed. Even if it's not a period original, it'll make an excellent display piece. Given the prices originals tend to go for these days, it's more than adequate as a replacement.

I agree ! 40 bucks well spent. Wasnt buying it because it had a chance i knew 90 percent it wasn't but its still a awesome low budget display piece and possibility a mold copy without forking out thousand!
Btw...i think wood but could be something else. Defiently not metal

Yup. I would have bought this any day at the price. Great for a display!
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated
My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

Oh hell yes, makes a great display for fraction of the price. Makes a great conversation place specially when you forget to take it down before guess comes over

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that not only is this eagle authentic, but according to photographic evidence, I believe it to be the actual eagle that hung above Hitler's hot tub at the Berghof....
really though, yeah, cool find for 40 bucks..
