Wizard...will do but (but it will be in my Will so it may be a long wait)
Everyone: Keep your suggestions coming.....
as I collect glasses I love it.
Thanks Harry. Ever seen one like this before?
I wonder if it might of had some sort of thin metal/silver rim to the top of it in the past perhaps?.
nope. yours is the 1st.
Maybe. No scratches, chips or glue "stains" to indicate this however.
One funny odd thing is that the glass actually "sweats". I leave it in the case and only take it out once a year or so. Each time I do take it out however, it has a microscopic film of liquid (oil?) on it. I think it is a result of the brown tinting,,,,or it could just be because its locked up for so long.
Very interesting item. Any chance of a photo of the underside of the foot for signs of a ground pontil etc. Also can you tell if it is cut glass or moulded?
Mark.
Mark - Will take some more pics and try to upload tonight. Been trying to get a good clear shot of the eagle to post as well but very difficult. I do know that the underside is flush but as I said, I don't know anything about glass making.
Thanks for your interest. This is an interesting piece.
Never seen one like this before (assume this was the one shown elsewhere on the forum recently).
