German Porcelain SS Reich Cup & Plate

I'm only liking the Heer coffee cup in this lot dated 1940 by Rosenthal. The DAF item looks good but not sure why it has that strange looking eagle that is looking upwards? Have never seen an eagle like this? In the original post the Kriegsmarine egg cup looks good.

Greetings. I've been collecting the mess hall porcelain pieces for some years now. I wanted to see what others were saying about the pieces. I'm a little concerned about the "squared" off shape of the cup. I've never seen this shape on a mess hall cup before as most are round. Have you researched and found others cups with the same shape? Same markings? I tend to stay away from anything SS marked. I like to do extensive research on my items. I have a few pieces from this same maker and as you can tell the markers marks are crisp and clean. The ones on the SS items seems to be kind of jumbled and the way the dates are printed are not what I'm used to seeing with this maker. But then again I know later in the war things were declining and maybe they started producing items not as nice as previously. Just my two cents. Best regards.Attachment 1383017Attachment 1383018

I mainly collect British & Australian mess hall porcelain mess items.
Ive no real interest in SS items at all , but I ended up buying a complete lot to get the few pieces that I wanted .

Here is some better pics of the maybe SS - 1944 Cup & Saucer
It's Faulty , Has had air bubbles during glazing process .
That explains the bumps in earlier photos from seller before I got it.
Being a 2nd if it is real I would have thought it would have gone straight into the bin .
If it was to be a fake then surely one would think of making it nice and smooth.
Or it could be a fake that they stuffed up when making.
Either way it makes it interesting to show .
The Cup has larger bubble imperfections , The Saucer has only smaller bubbles .

Just being Devil's advocate here, but surely something as rough as that wouldn't pass quality control.

Thats right Paul , as I mentioned earlier .
Anyway I took them to a dealer in high end vintage porcelain to have a look at and my main question was could the markings be faked in this condition.
Their answer was no , It was a failed glazing process that created the bubbles for whatever reason. Whatever markings that where on there were their 1st beforehand.
I don't even know these people , they know nothing about SS markings , but they where intrigued by the piece.
It's weighted very well , heavy for its size . Cup is only 2" Diameter x 2 1/4" High.
They like the hand painted gold edging and the 12 sided cup design .
Bottom line is they liked it very much as a period quality piece despite its imperfections.
So its all worthy of further investigation over time .
So I won't throw it in the bin .

Anything with that level of imperfections has got to be discounted in value regardless of a "SS" mark or not. It's just not a good buy from any perspective in my opinion, particularly as it may be a fake. Plenty more fish as they say..

True mate,
It's all of curiosity value only to me , but interesting all the same. PS It doesn't look that bad under normal eyesight lol.
I hoped someone would have had one to compare.
It owes me next to nothing , the seller took the burn , not me
That's what happens when you buy a group "lot" these days , 25% good & 75% crap.
I seem to have a few items marked pre war 1937 which are nice
This Cup & Saucer is neat.
