the difference is in the material used ..to be near a clear ceramic type..making it very brittle and easy to break..from what i understand. I think lightly tapping it and listening to the difference of that from a normal plastic cup. Regards Larry

I have seen such cups in Germany for 200 euros 100 cups so 2 euros for one. But well, prices are rising.
