It's an nsdap meeting sign, it lets you know where a speaker from the party will be having a speech so you could go and hear them and ask questions from party representatives.
-
These signs were posted either on the outside or indoors at NSDAP party buildings - it reflected times etc when one could talk to a particular official - most found today are as posted in the first picture, metal/enamel for outdoor use - I posted one that was used indoors made of wood these are harder to find.
The one posted looks like it was really abused-

thanks ..thats just a random photo i found
are they known to be faked at all ? any tips for looking at them , easy to tell if outdoor one are enamel vs paint as most will have chips , assume theyre pretty heavy metal?
would there be any markings on the rear?
-
Steve - Yes both types have markings on the rear, the metal ones usually have maker marks the wooden one care instructions as I posted.
The metal ones are somewhat heavy and usually the markings are missing due to care/condition such as the one you posted. I don't think these have been reproduced as of yet.

thanks again
what about value on a metal one ..hopefully a bit cleaner than the 1st pic
-
I would pass and look for a cleaner one - but as it stands I wouldn't pay more than $50-$75 for the one shown with all that damage.
