    Hello All,
I had the opportunity to save this from the melting pot.
I was hoping that I would have been able to re nazify it and get it cast in aluminium.
It is made from cast Iron and weighs a ton.
Anyway when I got it home and checked the construction I see that it was made from 21 different castings and then obviously sweated or welded together.

The main part of head and chest is one cast. The tail is another. Each feather is individually cast and the legs come in 3 sections with the final part being the wreath and (missing) swastika.

I'd be tempted to put my house number in it if I were you Doug, I bet the missis would be delighted with that outside the front door or at the end of the drive......

    Now there's a thought Ned.
It would take some big brackets to hold this chap up.

I must be quite lucky...the Missis actually likes it.

    All the best

Hi Doug, you are lucky that your missis likes it, I also think the Eagle is nice. My girlfriend would not allow this Eagle in the house, just asked

    Hi Juan.
Your girlfriend would be even more fed up as I'll be picking the twin up tomorrow

I have an idea Ned I just need to research them more as I have a lead that I need to follow.
If I come up with any more news I'll post it here

    All the best
    Doug

Hope your walls are strong enough.
I want to see how you fix them.

The walls are around 2 feet thick but I have been thinking all afternoon how to mount them.
It is so heavy it would be some substantial brackets that would be needed.

    Still thinking!

I may just have to build a new wall

That is a fantastic eagle, I love these wrought iron birds- so much work went into creating them- nice long wing down style as well, congtatulations. The last iron eagle I saw with the long wings was John T's from Boppard elementary school but it was a wall eagle with no back- yours is far nicer in all its 3 dimensional glory.
