SS Beer STEIN---Opinions please. thanks!

A guy wants to sell me this SS beer stein. He called it a "retirement stein". Did men actually 'retire' from the SS?? My gut tells me it is NOT a period piece, but made after WWII. I want to get some other opinions. Thanks and sorry for the poor quality pics--that's what he sent me.

Ditto, A recent fantasy piece............

If he wants only a few bucks for it, well ok, but if he's trying
to sell it as an original period item for lots of money,
he's a con artist.

Thanks for the input guys! As I stated, my gut told me it was bad...but...it's always good to get some other opinions.
