SS Leibstandarte Table Medal

Hi Everyone.

I have a friend who has this table medal for the 1st SS Panzer-korps.

Does anyone have any ideas as to it's authenticity and it's value (if any).

This was also posted as a "Blog" here on the forum.

At best, this is a post war commemorative peice and is not an original wartime item. At worse, an outright fantasy item. To me personally, the value would be very very low. To be honest it is not something I would buy.

My friend didn't know where to go to place his query, so I've sort of helped out a little.

I thought personally it could have been a commemorative piece. But the SS runes would have been banned as an illegal symbol or organisation would they not? So not done by the state if a post war piece.

I noticed on the front the crude finish to the edge, as if it has been over filed, or brushed against something hard.

You have answered my personal suspicion on this piece and I will pass all comments on.
