    Axisdagger,

Sorry, but I am not a fan of the spoon that you have poted as I recall having seen something very similar, elsewhere, that was deemed not to be correct.

I believe that the spoon that you have posted is too ornate and manufactured before the 1930's and that it has most had the probably had the runes added in more recent times to boost the price.

Please note that the Angelswerk Company was in production from before 1900 to post WW2 so anything is possible but as I am interested in antiques as well as military items, I would not be happy to purchase this if I saw it for sale.

    I actually like this one.

Fakes of SS cutlery are legion. Usually they comprise of an old knife/fork/spoon with a new cast metal fake insignia sweated into place. However, this one clearly has the insignia in relief, so it was made like that and not later applied or stamped on.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Ade,

Given the terms of your reply, I guess that its the wooden spoon for me - not to mention the large hat with the "D" on it.

I would not go that far, don't wear the hat! As I mentioned, fakes of this kind of thing are legion. Cast "runes in a wreath" designs are often added to old cutlery. 99% of these things are usually rubbish. You are right to be wary.

    Cheers, Ade.
