    Erno,

Here's the thing, one guy jumps and says fake, you come in and raise doubt and that is fine. But how many have you handled?, these are really really soft, the comparison piece is very rare with its original finish and very crisp. Most are not that way at all and the wear is to the high points and consistent with standard handling for these. The triangle hangers are the same with triangles and a two point rivet system. There are casting flaws and flaws on just about everything you can imagine, from badges to top shelf bronze of the era, it is not a point of contention in most cases and yet it is applied on the Germanic perfection model that is used by collectors. It does not work like that and you have to compensate for the photo's and the guy taking them as well. That's a triangle hanger with a plate attachment and the same rivet's used on the first plate, and even if they differ a little? who cares?. Its an original plate that a guy posts and is all happy with and you guys are too fast to the punch.
Is it wrong to speculate the authenticity of an item? IMO not at all and I love to hear everyone opinions and not just one's from one side, that is actually needed in this area of collecting. Casting usually does raise some red flags in this hobby.

What about the link posted by odal? The plate in it seems to have way more detail.

Get the answers right and look at the photos and all is good. People crapping on good pieces is a problem and this one is not difficult, one guy called fake and its not fake. He would know that if he knew them and what they are about, but he doesn't so why is he saying its fake?. Your reasoning when fake is called is not sound, you want to call fake then know what your talking about, does that seem like its unreasonable?. " Its a fake" is not speculation, its a call and its the wrong call as well as a definitive statement.

After taking a close look at mine I did notice that the detail in the initial plate posted is not as distinctive , this includes the maker mark in the trees. Heres a shot of mine , over the years the pewter has turned dark, no polishing here.
Guess one would really have to have in hand and compare/review the plate in detail , but from the pictures it dosent compare to the original - could be lots of polishing or 69+ years of handling??

Those kind of comments should be taken as the persons own opinions and nothing more. I don't understand getting upset over a debate about an authenticity of an item.

"It's real" is equally as definitive as "it's fake."

    Horst,

Feel free to read the thread, no need to feel obliged to help me as I have already answered your question in the post. Done, do what you want with the piece, crucify it if you like.

That's the end of reasoned conversation, at any rate.
