It would be interesting if it was but the EKs were made in three or four parts. Obverse frame, core and reverse frame. Sometimes there was an obverse and reverse core.
Therefore I would suggest it unlikely to be a medal mould as the components were made seperately, not as a whole piece.
The only (correct me if I'm wrong) one piece EKs are of the Schinkel shape and with quite different details.
I can see an EK recipient having a paperweight made with the image of his award upon it though......
Can we get some closer shots of the EK please? Especially the centre area and the date? I'm sure we could pin it to a maker if it is from an original EK.

O.K., I get what you were saying Adrian. You meant that they took a cast of the EK to make this paperweight. I didn't know the Schinkel shape was that much different. But then I do not have the eye you do!
