It is a 19th century furniture ornament, ment to be put on a draw, probably a desk. The holes are ment to fit the handle!

Re: Unknown Eagle
I have been searching every possible country and not found one like it, I know he was a glider pilot, British and part of one of the glider regiments, just got a photo thru of the old gent in his airborne beret.....it could be just an ornament or part of some bodies coat of arms, but he definitely bought it back....
Will check the polish angle again.....thanks for your input

Re: Unknown Eagle
It doesn't even represent a particular historical or coat of arms eagle, it is just a fantasy eagle!
Not saying thise to be denigrated in any way, just want to help you get your feet back on to the ground. ;-)
BUT it is a original time piece!
