Re: Wall Mirror with Nazi Markings - Thoughts???
Hi Darren, we had a similar one a few weeks back on the forum. These were marked like most Army property, with HU, most likely to prevent theft.
I would pay about £10 to £15 for it max.
Cheers, Ade.

Thanks Ade. I think I saw the post you're referring to; had a different marking, but was a wall mirror correct?
Where would this mirror most likely have been used? Can you tell by the faint markings?

Re: Wall Mirror with Nazi Markings - Thoughts???
It would most likely have been used in an Army barracks. They were all marked the same way, HU.
Cheers, Ade.

Now you need a wooden soldiers wall locker to hang it in -

Re: Wall Mirror with Nazi Markings - Thoughts???
I have worked in the glass business all my life so know a little ... I hope.
You really need to take the wood back off to learn anything about the mirror itself.
Most times there is a date stamped on it and often the manufacturers name.
The mirrors back should have a some what painted on finish coat.
I'm surprised that it shows no black spots from the backing getting eaten away.
I'd be interested to read what is found behind the backing. Many times we have replaced mirrors that dates back to 1940's and on more than one occasion found pictures/ family doc's and mostly news paper from the time it was installed.
The paper was used so the wood and mirror backing could not rub together.
FWIW ... old mirrors with beveling and/or a border design often were signed by the craftsman that made it. They would inscribe their name along an edge in reverse so from the front it read correctly.
Have fun,
Rudy

That would be interesting. Check it Dzyner and let us know if you find anything behind mirror.
