"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing he cares more about than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature with no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

I saw it again earlier this week...the tie-up with a current (?) 82nd member and his relatives kit and the re-uniting of the Brit Para helmet with family members were the highlights for me...'nice touches.....
I was in Europe for a couple of months and in Belfast, Ireland when the movie opened so I went to see it. I thought it was outstanding.
I had been to some of the area of the battle and a couple of years later spent over a week going thru the battle area.
I have also done the same thing for the Battle of the Bulge - was there in December to help get the proper feeling of the battle.
It is great to read about these events, especially when written by those who were there, But it is even better to walk the ground in person. I have been fortunate to have done so with many of the major WW 2 Battles in Europe - Kreta on the 50. aniv, Kasino on the 50., Normandy on the 50. u. 60. among others. In so doing I have also had the good fortune to meet and talk to many of the participants on both sides.
