    Hi Vegar,

Possibly, where is the fort? A quick search of the National Archives shows a number of files that may cover defences on the coast. Eg. The National Archives | Search results:coastal fortification norway

However, to really check what sort of information these files contain you would need to spend many hours, at Kew, perusing them. It would help knowing which fort/where it is, to help narrow down your search.

    Cheers, Tom

    Hi Vegar,
I've just had a very quick look on TNA website and have found a series of files which "comprises reports, surveys, maps, plans, and photographs of places and areas in theatres of war in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Atlantic, and the Pacific. The reports were compiled for use in strategic and tactical planning". I've copied a list of the ones that relate to Norway, below. Would Marøy come under any of the following areas? It's just a possibility that there might be something of relevance in there, but not a certainty.

Would the cleaning up post-war also be documented? I know there were British forces involved in helping to clean up the fort just after the war, I suppose they would have done an inventory before hauling the guns, shells, ammunition, equipment etc away?

Thank you so much for your help so far btw Tom

No problem Vegar. A couple more possible files for consideration:

These are just from typing in various key words (defences/fortifications/norway/coast etc) into the search function at TNA:

May have another play around later, but off to do some work shortly!
