Didn't he self promote his underpants to Oberpants...?

Goering (The Big Boy) never missed an opportunity to award himself.

Goering went from being a flamboyant aristocrat to an eccentric drug addicted loon. He was known to host partys while wearing animal skins and carrying spears around. If there was a prestigious award of impressive looking medal, he always somehow managed to have it award to himself(I wonder if he ever actually gave Himself medals?) A shame, as he was once an honorable and dignified man who flew with Richtofen and wore the Blue Max...

If I remember correctly he instituted the Grand Cross of the Knights Cross and awarded it to himself. I could be wrong about this—but I think I read it somewhere many years ago.

"In all my years as a soldier, I have never seen men fight so hard." - SS Obergruppenfuhrer Wilhelm Bittrich - Arnhem
From my past research, Goering actually lobbied some foreign governments for there state orders to be presented to him. I can't remember the specific award that he lobbied hard for but in the end he never received it. One decoration he never received was the "German Order."
He finally got the death/execution order from Hitler personally at the end.
