I think he was the last one with both decorations from the Waffen-SS.

The list of veterans is getting shorter each year.
When i were young i could talk to veterans, now they are all past on. Last time i talked to a veteran was maybe fourteen years ago when i visited a Norwegian WSS volunteer and listened to what he wanted to share of ww2 experiences.
Buck was a tremendous Front Kampfer , he was wounded 7 times altogether and lost two fingers on one hand and had 13 pieces of schrapnel in his body for his entire life , Ritterkreuz / Nahkampfspange in Gold but also one of the the famous der Fuhrer Regement 35 !!

Only 3 SS-Ritterkreuzträger are still alive:
Eberhard Heder, SS-Sturmbannführer, born 1918
Rudolf v. Ribbentrop, SS-Hauptsturmführer, born 1921
Kurt Sametreiter, SS-Oberscharführer, born 1922
Heder is the last living Sturmbannführer. Most sources view him as Hauptsturmführer, that is wrong, his Soldbuch claims his last rank SS-Sturmbannführer.
Interesting there were very little photos of Buck, sadly time catches up with us all.

The time is coming. The phrase "Wenn alle bruder schweigen" will not just be a title to a book, But a fact we need to realize. If you know a vet, talk with them NOW. Record there memorize that are also fading away while they still can recall the past!
