Tigers In Combat Vols 1 & 2 by Wolfgang Schneider will have some details on the unit.
Here is some basic information... schwere Panzerabteilung 504 - Lexikon der Wehrmacht
Thanks for that.
I have all the expected 'reading' material and have been searching the web, but i wondered if i am missing something obvious.
Is it that no-one has written a Battalion History, as all i've found are summarised parts , and i wonder why. They fought in North Africa, sicily and Italy up to the end of the war. The members were obtained from various sources, so had combat experience prior to the 504th.
Has/is anyone written a full history. There were/are veterans, and a wealth of photos have been published. I'm sure there are many more still out there somewhere.
Regards, SF.
Anyone any thoughts or suggestions.
Cheers,
SF
Can ANYONE recommend a reading book on the 504th.
Does anyone know how to obtain recent copies of Kameraden magazine.
Thanks,
SF.
The ONLY conclusion to draw from the total lack of response is that there is NO written history of the 504th heavy panzer battalion, other than excerpts contained in books of general battalion histories.
Why do you think that is ?
As i said previously, they fought for much of the war and there are surely, veterans still with us who would like a unit history as a well deserved tribute to those who are not.
Cheers, SF.
So NOBODY at all has or does read Kameraden magazine.............................Brilliant.

Afternoon,
I have received September and December issues plus a registration form for 'Kameraden', if anyone is interested.
