Default Help with uniforms on photo

Please can anyone help me with this photo (it´s not of the best of quality sry). These chaps appear on pictures together with regular "Heer" soldiers. The text underneath the pictures says "2 übergelaufene Russen" suggesting the men are Soviet hiwis but the uniforms look very odd to me (the guy to the left seems to have some kind of a patch on his right sleve?)?

    All help appreciated here!

These men are Eastern Volunteers in German service. They are wearing ordinary German field uniforms. The large oval cockades on their sidecaps and the sleeve shield worn by the man on the left would indicate their actual nationality, but they aren't seen clearly enough to positively identify. (If they really are Russians, the sleeve shield should be the "ROA" one and the cockades blue and red.)

Thank you so much for your help, this helped a lot! According to a reliable historical source the volunteersin the picture could actually be Ukrainian.
