Thumbs up Leningrad by Anna Reid

Completed Leningrad by author Anna Reid and can recommend this one for some excellent reading. Author does a superb job describing the deplorable conditions in the city and the politics of the time. Author states at least 750,000 perished during the siege and the survivors had to endure untold suffering from starvation and unsanitary conditions. Ridiculous rules were imposed so as not to look defeatist the author states. Book contains accounts from survivors of the inhuman conditions suffered by the populace. Many cases of people resorting to cannibalism to survive. Book was well written and informative. I will definitely recommend this one.
