Hi Im Lew..new kid on the block!!Saw this article in detail. The German was a circus giant in America before the war but was in Germany when war started and was conscripted.He was on Broadway In Ripleys Believe it or not after the war and also played a giant Santa!! His height was given as seven and a half feet and he died in Germany in his eighties!

ya the article is on the first or second page of this thread if anyone wants to read it.....in detail.........good call tho lew. i found this story pretty cool and even weirder that he ended up staying in amercia after the war to work

Thanks for the information on Lance Corporal Nacken, it's nice to have a name for him and know the rest of his story, and it's great that the Canadian solider, Corporal Roberts, survived the war too. It's almost a shame that they never got the chance to meet again, I bet they'd have liked that.

As for the WWI-era enormous German solider, you'd hope he never had to engage in trench warfare, he'd definately have been at a disadvantage, towering out of a trench dug for his much smaller mates!
