I am looking for a bit of information on (Hans) Becker-Zumbusch.

I have seen several posts where this officer is listed with the rank of Hauptsturmfuhrer as early as 1940 and he still held the same rank in 1944 when serving with SS Pionier Bttl "Das Reich"

However, I have noticed that in his book "Totenkopf" that Charles Trang has an officer with the same surname as an Obersturmfuhrer in their Pionier Bttl and I am wondering if this officer was demoted for some reason?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    hucks216,

    Thanks for the info.

If there is only one person with this name, I guess I will just have to assume that either Mr Trang made a mistake with the rank in his book or that he was demoted but latterly reinstated.
I gather that the Pioneer Kompanie in Totenkopf was used to punish troops, so the idea that he may have been posted there with an initial loss of rank, may be correct?
Also nice to see that someone reads these old posts.

It is hard to say one way or the other without knowing his wartime expolits and assignments. It might well be possible that a copy of his personnel file is held at NARA which could shed light on his career.
