You could be right Blackcat, I would think it is a 1940 photo as the tone matches a series taken during 1940 and kit suggests early war.

The black & white pictures get a little tiring, so a few colourful close up shots of a genuine second pattern "blurred edge" smock. Useful also for fabric comparisons with suspect smocks.
Notice with lace hole for scale, just how tightly woven this cloth is. That gives strength, wind protection and shower proof. Many of the repros are not as densely woven.
