WW2 German Police Unit information or assistance please
Hi all
wondering if anyone may have any knowledge of, or reference points to search for German Police units during WW2.
My opa (grandfather) was conscripted (forced without choice) into the German army when Germany invaded Slovakia. I have obtained documents from WAST in Berlin, however they are very limited as Berlin was almost destroyed by repeated bombing, so records are limited.
His original unit as shown on his ID disc is 158-6./Pol.Rgt 26. On 22/12/1943 he was transferred to 6.SS Police regiment.
These records include his wounds admissions to infirmary/hospitals, which shows his unit/regiment served in Wolessy, Riga, Latvia and Grodno.
Any information or direction appreciated.
regards
