WW2 German soldiers recovered from a grave in Russia

I found these photos on the Facebook page of the Australian book publisher 'Leaping Horseman Books', and I thought
the time and effort that they put into locating the site of these soldiers killed in battle, and buried in Russia, to find the
actual location, and then recover the bodies and give them a decent burial in their homeland is fantastic.

The caption to photo 1 reads:-

Caption reads:-

" After preliminary work using GoogleEarth and WW2 maps, Alex Skvorin was able to find the exact site of the German cemetery. The careful and precise exhumation of the graves shows that this was an official recovery, rather than grave-robbing by "black diggers". Soldiers whose names can be read on grave markers are now resting in peace at the Rossoshka Sammelfriedhof.'

Just to clarify, the soldiers were re-interred in the Rossoshka Sammelfriedhof, and the last photo is a composite using the original photo
and the recent shot....

I have worked with one of the main groups operating in Stalingrad on behalf of the Volksbund and they do some great work,

Alex Skvorin is superb at locating locations around Stalingrad for then and now photos.

One of the better methods of locating cemeteries is from the maps and records that were prepared by each Division etc for their EhrenFriedhofs as even when the cemeteries have been destroyed on the surface they can still be located and excavated from these wartime documents !!
