100 year old colour pictures from Russia
This does not have anything to do with the USSR but has a few militarys in it, and I could not find any other good part of the forum for it. Anyhow it is a very interesting article with amazing colour photographs in HD quaility, over 100 years old, from Russia. I hope you will like it as much as I did.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

The clarity is astounding. I wonder what specialized camera he used, if it was a modified common camera, or a custom build.. amazing. Thanks for the post mon

Great vivid pictures man the one of the man by the river looks great, the long exposure on the camera makes the stream look like smokey mist.

I agree! It is my favorite picture among them! And yes the quality is astonishing, like going back to the past with a time machine
And about what camera: "He used a specialized camera to capture three black and white images in fairly quick succession, using red, green and blue filters, allowing them to later be recombined and projected with filtered lanterns to show near true color images. The high quality of the images, combined with the bright colors, make it difficult for viewers to believe that they are looking 100 years back in time - when these photographs were taken, neither the Russian Revolution nor World War I had yet begun. Collected here are a few of the hundreds of color images made available by the Library of Congress, which purchased the original glass plates back in 1948."
