Agreed. That's a T34/85 with its 85mm main gun replaced with what looks like a scaffold pole and no defensive machine gun to boot.

    Regards, Ned.

    Thanks for this pic.

A friend of mine is making a mine dog harness for her dog to wear at our LH events.

    Cheers, Ade.
    Hi Ade,

Maybe this could help? Unbelievably, even though these mine dogs were proven to be of more danger to their 'masters', the russians persisted with using and improving this method of A.T. warfare until July 1996!!!

The bent M91/30 bayonet must be the result of either use or an accident. They were not issued like that!

    Cheers, Ade.

    Picture #1

This picture says it is 1930, but the helmet is the model 36, and the rifles are most likely SVT-38s, so it is more likely 1938, or 39.

Ade is correct, this picture with the dogs is the May Day parade for 1937 in Moscow.

Anti-tank dogs were not effective in Moscow battle 1941 and were not used in future
They were not effective, because of the method of training.

They were trained to eat, IE be fed, under tanks, but the training took place behind Soviet lines, and was generally done with T-34s. When released at the front, the dogs sought out the T-34s by smell, and this was not a very popular thing with Red Army tankers, to get attacked by your own dog mines.

...or it is just an optical illusion from an old photograph.

...because you notice in the second picture of the two same guys, the bayonet isn't bent.
