    I wonder what psychological state the minds of these children were in when they became adults , having seen and lived through the traumas of war ! great photos ,

    The following photos are taken from the Bundesarchive site. The original captions describe them as captured Soviet Partizans and Partizans nest. These photos make me feel very sad when I think of these young boys probable fate.

    That is why in Ex USSR the name of WW2 is Great Patriotic War. Approx each family has casualities.
    Most part of "Partisans" was a civil population hidden in the forest from sending them to the Germany. Most activity of partisans was in the mid of 1943 year, when the political comissars who was sent by Moscow make the order to fight with occupants, but not just hide in the forests.

    Hi Al, there were real problems with many boys who fought in the Red Army after they returned to a normal life after the war. They simply could not adapt to post war civilian life. Just like the boy soldiers found in Africa today.

    A couple more pics of "Sons of the Regt". Note the Order of the Red Star awarded to the young soldier armed with the PPSh41. He even has rank. This photo dates from 1944.
