hi guys i beleive this as a good wartime commando dagger but i would like to make sure as a few opinions is better it has a mark on the handle like /I with a 2 below it, it looks like a bad stamp as i think it should be the mod inspection mark like this /I\ ? it came with a disk with various photos of the former owner, and at vet meets, his loyal service certifictae to the 9th commandos, photos of his medals and insignia etc, sadly there was no sheath with it, i know nothing of brit gear or these knifes any other info would be great! heres a few photos of the owner and his group, pte john is the old man on the right

Well, from the details, it looks like a good 2nd pattern WW2 "India" issue "rib and bead", .... machined rather than hand forged blade.

I gather that the "rib and bead" are classed as a private purchase type.

I gather the "I" indicates Indian Army proof mark ..

Past that, I don't really have the full details, .. but I'm sure as the thread is viewed, some more "technical" members will add detail.

    Cheers
