That looks to be a 3rd pattern Fairbairn, ... and with the squared off scabbard, I suspect it to be post war.

Thanks for your post. I forgot to ask, knife tip is rounded off, did they come like that from the manufacturer or were they rounded off later by soldiers, also what price roughly would a knife like this fetch.

Alec,
It was common for the original pointed tip to be lost, ... opening tin cans etc ..
It originally would have had a pointed tip.
As for price ...... well 3rd patterns are more common, and your example possibly being just post war, would be in the region of the £50 GBP area I would guess ..
