Are you thinking this is a WW2 made M38 paratroop helmet ? If you do possibly think that, it's not.

Looks to be a West German Bundeswehr Paratrooper Helmet

Its one of the early GSG9 helmets, often encountered with the rim removed and used by re-enactors because of its close resemblance to the M38. The liner used in this was different to that of the M38, but the strap assembly was much the same. If it still had the original liner it would have a fairly decent value, as they are themselves getting quite rare.

Thanks for all the comments on this thread based on what has been posted I will pass on the helmet as the seller wants 850 Euro for it.

You are wise to avoid it... Had it not been messed about with and the liner changed, it would have been a very interesting helmet of the cold war era to own.
