I would say its only chance is no chance. Steer clear of it. Artificial ageing is my opinion.
I think also fake, if it was a original Army para helmet it would be very rare i think Doug has a original one
Nothing on this one is WWII vintage. By the way, only a half dozen original DD Heer M38's known to exist today.
Cheers,
Terry
Are those screws on the helmet? I'm no expert, but I've yet to see that on any helmet I've looked at posted here or elsewhere. I'd like to think that's a big giveaway on any WWII German helmet...
I'm no expert either, but I thought original para helmets did have screws for attaching the liner, am I missing something?
When I say I'm no expert, it's a very true admission. Looking at photos, you're right, some look like screws. Others like screws with a hole in the middle, and others like the rivets I'm used to on the other helmet types. Well, I guess that's not a dead giveaway on this helmet type.
"any chance"
No.
As Terry said, there are 6 known to exist. Here is my example I am extremely fortunate to own, Terry also is the proud owner of one.

Whilst I remember, the thread starter is aged modern fake.
