I am not a m38 expert so I will not be able to tell you much. but this one does not give me a good feeling at all from the paint to the decals. I would pass on it.

The whole helmet is a fake/repro IMO. Not just the paint and decals.

i am not a expert but the paint and decals made me doubt already from the first moment i saw the pictures of this helmet.
Guys sry to barge in. I have this original m38 FJ helmet shell with some traces of paint and decal. Over all condition is relic. Interior upper inside of the dome restored with some hard metal. The liner is a high end museum quality replacement. Bolts are genuine, also came with the helmet. The flying goggles are also original. I placed these goggles myself on the helmet some years ago to add to the display but unfortunately one of the rubber eye cups has deformed and glued on the steel. I am considering to part with it. Do you have any ideas about value?
