I will happily stand corrected if I'm wrong as my knowledge of these rare badges is very limited but I believe this to be a very good copy of the second pattern badge. It most certainly has been cast from an original but there are a couple of thing not quite right. From what I've read, the second pattern badges weren't marked and the makers mark is very different even from the type found on the first pattern badge.
The details of the eagle, wreath and feathers are too soft when compared to an original.
