Hi Neil, thanks for being so candid in your reply. A lesson learned the hard way.
Cheers, Ade.

Had good advice? Saved money? Why not become a Gold Club Member, just hit the green "Join WRF Club" tab at the top of the page and help support the forum!
yeah when they are selling that cheap you know there is something wrong, and "if it's to good to be true" it normal is as people will know the real value of them awards
next time get some pics first then post them on here would of saved you buying it

Hi Neil,
Sorry to hear about the badge, but if it makes you feel any better we all have made mistakes.
I have a couple of prize winning duffers!!!
My best howler to date was what I thought was an Mp38, it was not!
It turned out to be a post war Czech made blank firer.
That was the best part of £2000, thankfully it was purchased from a dealer (my last purchase from said dealer)
and it was exchanged for an original bnz 42 Mp40.
Keep smiling, and keep the faith!
Jonathan.
Thanks Ade, Thanks Martin,
.... Jonathan, My god if that was me I don't know what I would have done, I bet you didn't get much sleep that night
I would have been physically sick.
Thanks god you got it exchanged, for the last 6 months I have been looking for either a MP38 or MP40, already got 2 Repros one being a vintage 1960's MP40,
but each time I go to a show to buy a Deact one I think of how much "other" stuff I can get, The spare room at the minute is already filled with Third Reich Militaria,
I need a bigger room, maybe the living room LOL!!
Glad it turned out alright in the end for you anyway.
Best regards,
Neil
BUGGER! That is a real pain Jonathan, I would hate to count up the cost of the mistakes I have made over the last 25+ years, but I bet it may well exceed the cost of the MP38!! All I can say is that the collecting world has become a much safer place due to great forums (this being the best IMO) such as this, the fakes may get better, but the knowledge of them also gets found out so much sooner. Leon.
Hi Neil and Fallschmirmjager,
Neil I like the sound of using the living room, I do!
When it comes to Mp40s they are expensive, but two things to consider.
I doubt you will lose out, they just seem to keep going up in value,
Plus is it worth double for old spec?
My is old spec, but rarely gets taken apart.
This forum is the best that I have found, very friendly and knowledgeable people.
Jonathan.
