'Spannungsrisse' - 'Shatter cracks' according to Babelfish!

I'm glad it's stable and will have the chance to remain so in your collection. I wonder if these cracks were there in infant form when the badge was made and have become worse as time progessed.

I think the cracks were not in the infant form.I think it is come worse as time.My opinion is:

By the dirtied metal, the negative and positive particles (atoms) are not very solidly with each other form an alliance. The lattice structure is not stable and appears in the form of tension tears.

Cheers Rory.Yes it is very much left in history about the german awards and medals. But germany was bombed out and a lots of documents were lost for all time. And the JFS manufacture was in the russian sector. There is not really much informations to found about the makers where was living in the east sector of germany.

I'm not sure I ever remember seeing a fake JFS Fallschirmschützenabzeichen, considering the rarity of these badges I would assume that someone, somewhere would've made one by now. Has anyone seen a fake of the above badge?

It might not be pretty ....., but that is exactly what I like about it. It has tremendous prescence (for lack of better words).
That it is rare is just an added bonus.
    Beautiful - cracks and all.

Fantastic badge, Joachim. Rarity is the icing on top.

Not at all Adrian. Perhaps it's so ugly for them ..
But with badges - perhaps like with women : outside appearance it's only part of everything.
Or like with books : don't make any judgment about it watching hardcover only .
