Original Fallschirmjäger badge?

I bought this fallschirmjäger badge a couple years back and i was wondering if it was original or fake. I bought it for about 3 euros at a flea market.

Sorry mate it looks like a cheap Eastern European copy, still 3 bucks is not too bad.

It is a poor cast fake.

If memory serves it never had a screw back.

These were never screw backed and the wreath should be gilt in colour. This one is really bad, sorry.

Compare I know it's Luftwaffe, and not Army, but the quality is the same

The one you have shown is a very cheap copy. Army Para's are sought after badges, and command very high prices. I have only ever seen one, that I consider to be real

Yes,

Get a book or google around and compare the detail on an original army para badge and you will see very quickly that it is not even close. It looks like lead or another soft alloy again I am not an expert but the original has limited metal options and pin and catch combinations ( none of which I know off by heart). This will start you in the right direction but the whole subject is very tricky indeed, these go for silly money for what they are, like most things in the hobby.
