Default $1.5M Collection up for sale-Too good to be true?

    Hi Guys,

I don't know if this has been discussed before, so apologies if it has!

A chap has had his collection on the net for sale since 2011. Some he says has sold, and the remainder in the link below is for sale under offer until 2015, when he will start to sell off parts as individual items. I think the fellow maybe British, as his blogspot is U.K. based, but who knows?

He claims the collection is valued at $1.5M or 1 Million Euro's, what he may accept is another question.

My question is, how much of his collection is genuine, how much is not, and what would you consider it's worth in today's market in ball park figures? There appears to be some incredibly rare gear there and it's all in truly amazing condition, this is one astute collector....Isn't it?

    Hi Ned,

I have seen this "collection for sale" under discussion previously and I remember that many items were called into question. No idea on the value of it all.
    Regards,

    Jerry

    Whatever its just an opinion.

I would call a few of those caps questionable, they are unworn and look pristine in appearance, now i know that you can get some very immaculate caps but theres something niggling at me

That FJ bandolier looks very very fresh, and I'd want to see the FJ helmets in detail too.

    Hey Ned,
they seller has listed a dutch- (ww2collection@live.nl) and a G-mail adress on his blog so I supose he's dutch.
And as Kradspam stated the bandoleer looks to fresh, I've got the same in my collection, mine is a repro and I can't see any difference between his and mine.
I'm no way an expert, but IMHO it looks like a mix of genuine and repro items to me.

    Regards,
    Steven

Like every one ells here it seems fishy to me to. I never had seen so many minty items own by one person. Why does he not sell it individually (basically becoming a dealer). Selling it as a lot is a way to hide fakes.

'All sales are final; this is a private sale of a personal collection without guarantees or return privileges.'

Even if you had a spare million to drop on this collection, would you really buy without going to see the pieces and without some field experts to help out? Nothing wrong with a minty piece but some of those are a little too good.

It would be interesting to get some comments from those who have knowledge in their respective fields on some of the pieces shown.
