Default Afrika Korps lamp and Soldbuch

    G'day,

Had this for a while now...this item was bought home by a Aussie Digger after he acquired from a German medic KIA at El Alamein.....both the lamp and the Soldbuch were recovered for same german soldier. I have the details of the Aussie soldier who bought it home, as well as the large Kodak film box he stored it in...

The Soldbuch has a staple attached sheet detailing the issue of his tropical kit

Nothing like an item with provenance.
Hope he wasn't KIA because he was using the light when he shouldn't have been!!!!

    Cheers, Dan

Unfortunately the German medic was KIA....the lantern is in great condition, spare glass and everything intact......the soldbuch, especially the extra sheet with his Afrika Korps issue kit is interesting

    No stahlhelm then?

May not have been killed if they issued him one.

The German soldier was actually a Paymaster, with the equivalent rank of an Oberleutnant. Was he assigned to any medical units (Page 4 & 17)?
