I just picked up this mountain Rucksack at auction for 80 US dollars. I know it is missing some strap pieces and could use some help figuring out what is missing. I think it is two straps with hardware to attach to the ammo pouches and some kind of waist belt. Interestingly, it carries the name of someone who once owned it as a backpack post war. I found someone on the web matching the name and sent him a message. He was born in Brussels and traveled to Athens as part of his professional career involving aerospace. You can see the airline tags still attached including the Sabena airways one from Belgium and one for Athens. I'd like to know the history of the pack - hopefully I will hear from the previous owner. Yes, I think two hooks are missing from the strap. These kind: http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAxMFg4NzI=/z/rzsAAOSwHnFVuu-R/$_35.JPG

Btw. the 80$ was worth it! Nice, pretty rucksack.

    Servus Bergkamerad Neil,

Looks to be in great shape and a steal at $80! Like xedos6 says, it's only missing the two hooks...but the hooks were not used very much and often were taken off or left off....same goes for the waist strap. If a Jäger needed to drop his pack quickly, you didn't want to be fiddling with all the connections!

I did see one with the waist strap. What a bad idea. The two hooks which attached to the shoulder straps look like the bottom of a pair of standard Y-straps. They have the same hardware. But there is provision as you can see from the photos for two quick release straps with carbine hooks that I think would have been far more convenient. I would like to locate the two Y-strap hook pieces if possible or have them reproduced. I found the post war owner of the pack on Facebook and sent a message to his Rutgers University email. NH
