    Hi Derrick, you are correct. The two on the loops are East German NVA three hole style buttons.

    Hello,
    that's a nice prewar breadbag, congrats....
    Yes all buttons need to be replaced. The acceptance stamp is still very nice E39 for Erfurt 1939. Thanks for sharing

    I don't want to appear cocky , but these buttons shouldn't be replaced . An early brotbeutel like this one has such aluminium three hole buttons that are the very same ones that you can observe on a 1931 to 1939/40 splinter Zeltbahn . The two examples I own have buttons like that that were copied by the NVA , which doesn't mean that every button of this type has been is post-war . I even think that this three hole buttons existed on WW1 pieces of equipment .
    I will have to check on that . The other buttons shouldn't be replaced either , they are probably a war-time repair ...
