    Question Carbide Bike Lamp

    Hello Guys & Girls,

I have a few photos of a carbide lamp I have found at the local flohmarkt, I have no reference material for bicycles, which I assume it is from? What caught my eye is it is the same apple green as the M35 helmets? Anyone any ideas?

PS my spelling is terrible I should have gone to school more often!

    Guys,

Can I bring this to the top again as most of the hits were before I had added the pictures.

    Any Ideas?

    Regards

    Jock

Hi Jock, since you originally posted this a friend of mine showed me his newly restored WW1 British push bike. The lamp on it was very similar to the one you show here.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks Ade,

It is German as the maker marks are on it but nothing military, I just thought the paint a give away? I understand from older threads that they used Electrical lights on bikes but this is earlier I think.

    Regards

    Jock

I suspect it will be WW1 or early post WW1 in date. Reichwehr era etc.

    Cheers, Ade.
