Don't know if this helps but this site shows a picture of the pack Germany until 1947 and also states:

ZIGSAM - THE AUSTRIAN CIGARETTE COLLECTION
1933 January, 30th - Adolf Hitler becomes chancellor (but I don't know when exactly German cigarette packs started to wear the swastika)
Main cigarette producers: REEMTSMA, HAUS NEUERBURG, BRINKMANN,
Papastratos opens a branch at Berlin called HELLAS
1934 REEMTSMA acquires ABDULLA & CO
1935 until 1938 all Jewish cigarette companies like ASTRA, GARBÁTY (becomes METRO), JYLDIS or WILHELM LANDE got expropriated, many brand names got changed or discontinued,
    Foundation of AROSA,
Closure of BALKAN and CIGARETTENFABRIK LEVANTE
    1936 Closure of HELLAS
1938 There are actually 125 cigarette producers at Germany
1942 Closure of AVIMAH, BASMA, J. BORG (ZIGARETTENFABRIK STAMBUL) and HAUS BODOF
1945 May, 9th - German capitulation, Swastika disappears on cigarette packs (during first months just overprinted)
American cigarettes become the unofficial currency (50 Cents a pack)
1948 June, 20th - "Reichsmark" gets replaced by "Deutsche Mark" (East Germany too),
    Closure of AROSA

Checking for obvious spelling mistakes on a pack might be an idea but depends on how well anyone knows the language.

    Great link Tony!

I have a little more confidence now that my Salem No6 ciggies are perhaps original.
