12. Nachtjäger Gruppe?
The shield looks like the unit emblem of Nachtjagdgeschwader 1.
IV Gruppe.
12./NJG1
Gruppen Kommandeure Hptm.Hermann Greimer 1-11-44 to 8-5-45.
Formed on 1-10-42, 12./NJG 1 disbanded on 3-3-45. They were at the time of the victory marked on the stock based at Dortmund.
The Messerschmitt Bf110 G-4 Night fighter was their operating aircraft type, below is a representative example from NJG 1 and the Gruppe emblem.

'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
It also marks the shooting down of a british 4-engined bomber on 2.11.44....
cheers, Glenn
Is it still called a 'Wolchow' stick when belonging to a member of the Luftwaffe?

Weather in target area 5/10th cloud, at the end of the attack black clouds and smoke could be seen coming up from the oil plant. This attack was meant as a G-H formation attack together with a large number of “extra” aircraft with no G-H. These bombed on Wanganua flares dropped by G-H aircraft.
It's possible that one of these aircraft was the victim of the stocks original owner as NJG 1 also operated in daylight and were based only 90 miles away.

Just noticed the ferrule tip. Is that made from a K98 oiler bottle?
