Article about: Hello, I got this flashligt.It looks like strange - have no straps and switch looks like modern. So, I want to know, is this WW2 German flaslight or post war? Regards, Tomas.

    Old thread but figured I'd reply for info purposes. This is a post war flashlight made in the DDR 1948-1953. Most are identical to the Daimon 2233/2234 (this one is odd given the different switch, probably civilian). According to info gleaned from the web it was made by Artas who used Daimon's name. The two companies apparently worked it out (Daimon in W.GER, Artas in E.GER). The main difference is the shape of the logo. The prewar/war model has the "D" slightly larger than the other letters and the shape is different. This pic from Wehrmact Awards forum shows the difference. The DDR version is commonly sold as WW2 issue, it is a great lamp for reenacting as it is virtually identical to the original. Buy with regards to price accordingly.
