    Hi guys,
Its been slim pickings for me lately but I grabbed this as I thought it was fairly unique and not often seen? ( utilitarian as it is its not surprising )

Its a small ( 40cm x 65cm ) version of the Deutsche Reichspost mail sack. “Found in a Latvian attic” so the seller said, which may or may not be true – but how else would something like this survive 76 years?

A nice size that will display well amongst my other "junk"......

Anyway, just thought you might like to see what all those letters were carried in?
    Cheers, Dan

To my knowledge I do believe they do. I know 34 is for Hamburg on my bag. I am not sure about yours being 19/42. I am trying to dig around tonight with my iphone and to be honest it is not forum friendly and my internet is sucking bad.

    Just searching about, I have seen ones marked 26/41 , 1/42 , 19/42 and yours at 6/34.

This map from Wikipedia is supposed to show the old Reichspost districts and the current ones ( 0 - 9 ) but as Hamburg is up the top it is district 20 but your sack is clearly 34 and Hamburg??? so maybe they have another meaning?

Yeah I found that map as well so I am not sure what my G/34 means. I know it is marked on on the back side as well with G/34. Also mine has the No. 50032 a well.

It looks to me to be a G. Here is a postausweiskarte from my collection. There is a G 26 in the stamp on the right side of document inside the Postamt circle. Maybe the G was for Hamburg and the 26 on his card or the 34 on the sack of mine had something to do with the carrier's zone or territory. I truly don't know but I now am interested in knowing.

    Dan,

You are correct. Not G but a 6. I pulled the sack. It is definitely 6 / 34. It is reversible and printed the same on inside and out.
